Summary

This is a bracket with screw mounts for an inexpensive door alarm that only used double stick tape for mounting and the tape kept failing. There are two versions for different screw locations.

Instructions

These brackets are designed for a specific door alarm sold by Harbor Freight. (http://www.harborfreight.com/door-window-entry-alarm-94983.html) They are very inexpensive alarms (2 in a package for $4.99) but lack a screw mounting option. I am mounting them inside a cabinet door in the kitchen to try and deter the dog from getting in the trash can! I have associated the alarm with a negative consequence. Don't worry it's only getting sprayed with water. The big sissy hates to get wet. I didn't want to improve the latch because I didn't want the cabinets getting torn up by a persistent pooch. Anyway the inside of the cabinet door is not flush and not smooth so the double sided foam tape on the alarm would not hold. The brackets support just enough of the weight to keep the alarms in place. I also added a a couple of bits of double sided foam tape to the sides of the alarm to stick it in the bracket. It hasn't been long but so far the trash has stayed inside the cabinet!
